Description
A simple and satisfying baked gnocchi dish with a rich bolognese sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 (16 ounce) package potato gnocchi
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the gnocchi to the sauce and stir to combine.
- Pour the mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly over the top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the gnocchi is tender.
- Let stand for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier sauce, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the oregano and basil.
- You can substitute ground turkey or Italian sausage for the ground beef.
