Baked Bolognese Gnocchi

Description

A simple and satisfying baked gnocchi dish with a rich bolognese sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 (16 ounce) package potato gnocchi
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add the gnocchi to the sauce and stir to combine.
  6. Pour the mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly over the top.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the gnocchi is tender.
  9. Let stand for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier sauce, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the oregano and basil.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or Italian sausage for the ground beef.
