Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted, for brushing
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in melted butter and beaten eggs.
- Add salt and gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.
- Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down dough and divide into 12-16 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball.
- Place rolls in a greased baking pan, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Brush tops with melted butter immediately after removing from oven.
Notes
- For extra soft rolls, you can add an extra tablespoon of butter to the dough.
- Ensure your milk is warm, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast.
- You can make the dough ahead of time and refrigerate it overnight.
