Description
Sweet and savory chicken wings glazed with a brown sugar and pineapple sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2.5 lbs chicken wings, split
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup pineapple juice
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp cold water
- 1 green onion, sliced (for garnish)
- 1 tsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, toss chicken wings with olive oil. Arrange wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until browned and cooked through.
- While wings are baking, prepare the sauce. In a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, soy sauce, pineapple juice, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
- In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and cold water until smooth. Pour the cornstarch mixture into the simmering sauce, whisking constantly.
- Cook, stirring, for 1-2 minutes, or until the sauce thickens.
- Once wings are cooked, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the thickened sauce over the wings and toss to coat evenly.
- Serve immediately, garnished with sliced green onion and sesame seeds.
Notes
- For crispier wings, broil for the last 2-3 minutes after coating with sauce.
- Adjust red pepper flakes to your preferred spice level.
