Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 1/4 cup cold water

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add the cold water one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough just comes together. Do not overmix.
  4. Form the dough into a disk, wrap it, and chill for 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out very thin, about 1/16 inch thick.
  7. Cut the dough into small squares or desired shapes. Prick each cracker several times with a fork.
  8. Transfer the crackers to the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until crisp.
  10. Cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

  • For thinner crackers, roll the dough even thinner before baking.
  • You can sprinkle a little extra sugar on top before baking for a sweeter crust.
