Description
A simple baked French toast casserole with cinnamon and maple flavor.

- 12 slices thick bread
- 6 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- Arrange bread slices in a single layer in the prepared dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread in the baking dish.
- Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight.
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
- Remove the dish from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before baking.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the French toast is set and lightly golden brown.
- Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Serve with extra maple syrup or powdered sugar if desired.
- For a richer flavor, use brioche or challah bread.
