Description

A simple recipe for apple pie filling wrapped in pastry and baked until crispy.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup diced apples
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 8 refrigerated crescent roll dough sheets
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 2 tablespoons coarse sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the diced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  3. Unroll the crescent roll dough sheets. Separate them into individual triangles.
  4. Place about 1 tablespoon of the apple mixture onto the wide end of each dough triangle.
  5. Roll the dough up tightly, starting from the wide end, enclosing the filling. Pinch the seams to seal.
  6. Place the rolls seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together the beaten egg and milk. Brush the tops of the rolls with the egg wash.
  8. Sprinkle the coarse sugar evenly over the tops of the rolls.
  9. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Let the rolls cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • You can use Granny Smith apples for a tarter filling.
  • For extra flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the apple mixture.
