Description
A simple recipe for apple pie filling wrapped in pastry and baked until crispy.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup diced apples
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 8 refrigerated crescent roll dough sheets
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 2 tablespoons coarse sugar for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix the diced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough sheets. Separate them into individual triangles.
- Place about 1 tablespoon of the apple mixture onto the wide end of each dough triangle.
- Roll the dough up tightly, starting from the wide end, enclosing the filling. Pinch the seams to seal.
- Place the rolls seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the beaten egg and milk. Brush the tops of the rolls with the egg wash.
- Sprinkle the coarse sugar evenly over the tops of the rolls.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through.
- Let the rolls cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- You can use Granny Smith apples for a tarter filling.
- For extra flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the apple mixture.
