- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs, separated
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Chocolate shavings, for garnish
Instructions
- Beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg yolks one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract, cocoa powder, and salt until combined.
- In a separate clean bowl, beat the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
- In another clean bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture.
- Carefully fold the beaten egg whites into the chocolate mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the filling into the pie crust.
- Chill the pie for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
- Before serving, garnish with chocolate shavings.
