A simple recipe for classic Waldorf salad, suitable for picnics.

- 3 large apples, chopped
- 1 cup celery, chopped
- 1 cup walnuts, chopped
- 1 cup seedless red grapes, halved
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Pinch of black pepper
- Lettuce leaves for serving
Instructions
- Place the chopped apples, celery, walnuts, and grapes in a large bowl.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the dressing over the fruit and nut mixture.
- Gently toss all ingredients until they are evenly coated.
- Cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Serve the salad on individual lettuce leaves.
Notes
- For a lighter dressing, substitute half the mayonnaise with plain Greek yogurt.
- You can toast the walnuts lightly before adding them for deeper flavor.
