  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup mirin
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Cooked rice, for serving
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Green onions, sliced, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
  2. Add the sliced beef to the marinade and toss to coat. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water to create a slurry.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  5. Remove beef from marinade, reserving the marinade. Add beef to the hot skillet and stir-fry until browned.
  6. Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet with the beef. Bring to a simmer.
  7. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
  8. Serve immediately over cooked rice, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.
