Description
A moist chocolate sheet cake with a classic German chocolate frosting.
Ingredients

- 1 box (approx. 15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup butter, cubed
- 4 egg yolks, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/3 cups flaked coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Prepare and bake cake mix according to package directions for a 13×9 inch pan. Let cool completely.
- In a large saucepan, combine evaporated milk, sugar, butter, and egg yolks. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened, about 10-12 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Stir in vanilla extract, coconut, and pecans.
- Spread warm frosting over cooled cake.
- Let frosting set before slicing.
Notes
- Ensure cake is completely cool before frosting.
- Cook frosting until it coats the back of a spoon.
