  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Simple recipe for fresh cranberry sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar and water in a saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  2. Add cranberries and orange zest to the sugar mixture.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until most cranberries have burst and the sauce has thickened.
  4. Remove from heat. The sauce will thicken more as it cools.
  5. Transfer the sauce to a serving dish.

Notes

  • You can substitute the water with orange juice for a stronger citrus flavor.
  • The sauce keeps well in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
