Description

A simple, filling casserole made with ground beef and potatoes.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Brown the ground beef and onion in a skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess fat.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the cooked beef and onion, cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, and pepper.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Spread the beef mixture evenly over the potatoes.
  6. Top with the remaining potato slices.
  7. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil, sprinkle the cheese over the top, and bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

  • You can substitute cream of chicken soup for cream of mushroom soup if you prefer.
  • For crispier edges, remove the foil for the last 20 minutes of baking.
