Ingredients

- 500g of lean ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (400g) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (400g) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
- Drain off excess fat.
- Stir in diced tomatoes, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, and cayenne pepper.
- Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cover.
- Cook for at least 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for the ground beef.
- Adjust the spices to your preference.
- This recipe can be made in a slow cooker. Cook on low for 4-6 hours.
