  • 1 can (400g) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (400g) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  4. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
  5. Drain off excess fat.
  6. Stir in diced tomatoes, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, and cayenne pepper.
  7. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cover.
  8. Cook for at least 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  9. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
