- 6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease an 8×8 inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, toss the apple slices with granulated sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Place the apple mixture in the prepared baking dish.
- In a separate medium bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, oats, and nutmeg.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Let the crisp cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for the best flavor.
- You can substitute other firm apples like Honeycrisp or Fuji.
