Description

A simple recipe for flavorful black pepper chicken.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 teaspoons coarse black pepper
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces with soy sauce and cornstarch. Set aside for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken and set aside.
  4. Add the onion to the wok and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
  5. Add the garlic and ginger and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  6. Stir in the black pepper.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together the chicken broth, oyster sauce, and sugar.
  8. Pour the broth mixture into the wok. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens slightly, about 2 minutes.
  9. Return the cooked chicken to the wok. Toss to coat with the sauce.
  10. Stir in the sesame oil. Serve immediately.
