Description
A simple recipe for sweet potato mash flavored with bourbon and brown sugar.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons bourbon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Place the cubed sweet potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15 to 20 minutes.
- Drain the sweet potatoes well. Return them to the hot pot.
- Add the butter, brown sugar, bourbon, cinnamon, and salt to the pot.
- Mash the mixture until smooth using a potato masher or an electric mixer.
- Heat the mash over low heat for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until heated through.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a smoother texture, use an electric mixer instead of a hand masher.
- If you prefer less alcohol flavor, reduce the bourbon to 1 tablespoon.
