Description

Simple recipe for pork chops cooked in a creamy mushroom sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless pork chops (about 1 inch thick)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 8 ounces cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk or chicken broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Season the pork chops on both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear the pork chops for 3-4 minutes per side until browned. Remove the chops from the skillet and set them aside.
  4. Add the sliced mushrooms and chopped onion to the same skillet. Cook until the mushrooms are soft and the onion is translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  6. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, milk or broth, and dried thyme. Mix well until smooth.
  7. Return the pork chops to the skillet. Bring the sauce to a simmer.
  8. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the pork chops reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  9. Remove the pork chops and serve them immediately topped with the mushroom sauce.

Notes

  • You can use fresh mushrooms or a mix of fresh and dried for deeper flavor.
  • For a richer sauce, substitute heavy cream for the milk.
