Description
A simple recipe for comforting, creamy ground beef mixed with pasta shells.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 ounces medium pasta shells
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook until the onion softens, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, cream of mushroom soup, water, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Add the dry pasta shells to the skillet. Stir well to coat the shells with the sauce.
- Cover the skillet and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the pasta shells are tender and most of the liquid is absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the milk and the shredded cheddar cheese until the cheese melts and the sauce becomes creamy.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- For extra flavor, use sharp cheddar cheese.
- You can substitute cream of celery soup for cream of mushroom soup.
