  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped chocolate until smooth.
  3. Stir the granulated sugar into the chocolate mixture. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Stir in the 1/2 cup of cooled coffee. Do not overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs attached. Do not overbake.
  8. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan.
  9. For the frosting, beat the softened butter in a bowl until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, alternating with the 1/4 cup of cooled coffee. Beat until smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  10. Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled brownies. Cut into squares.
