- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup diced cooked ham
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
- Cut in the cold butter pieces using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the shredded cheese and diced ham.
- Make a well in the center and pour in the milk. Stir until just combined; do not overmix.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with 2 tablespoons of milk.
- Brush the tops of the biscuits with the butter mixture.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of garlic powder to the dry ingredients.
- Serve warm with butter or your favorite jam.
