Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced cooked ham
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cut in the cold butter pieces using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheese and diced ham.
  5. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk. Stir until just combined; do not overmix.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with 2 tablespoons of milk.
  8. Brush the tops of the biscuits with the butter mixture.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Notes
