Description
A simple recipe for making fresh marinara sauce for pasta.
Ingredients

- 2 (28 ounce) cans crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon sugar
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
- Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes and tomato sauce.
- Stir in oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and sugar.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer.
- Reduce heat to low, cover partially, and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Taste and adjust seasonings if needed before serving with pasta.
Notes
- For a smoother sauce, you can use an immersion blender after simmering.
- Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little heat.
