Description

A flavorful Italian sandwich packed with classic deli meats and cheeses.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Italian bread
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 4 ounces sliced salami
  • 4 ounces sliced capicola
  • 4 ounces sliced mortadella
  • 4 ounces sliced provolone cheese
  • 1/4 cup sliced roasted red peppers
  • 1/4 cup sliced pepperoncini
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice the Italian bread in half lengthwise.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the olive oil and minced garlic. Brush this mixture over the cut sides of the bread.
  4. Layer the salami, capicola, mortadella, and provolone cheese on the bottom half of the bread.
  5. Top the cheese with roasted red peppers and pepperoncini.
  6. Drizzle the balsamic glaze over the fillings.
  7. Place the top half of the bread over the fillings.
  8. Wrap the sandwich tightly in aluminum foil.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is warmed through.
  10. Remove from the oven, unwrap, slice, and serve.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a layer of pesto or mayonnaise before the meats.
  • If you don’t have roasted red peppers, you can use fresh bell peppers, thinly sliced.
  • Adjust the amount of pepperoncini to your spice preference.
