Description
A simple recipe for savory sausage pinwheels, perfect for serving at parties.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (8 ounce) package crescent roll dough
- 1/2 pound bulk pork sausage
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage, breaking it up with a spoon, until it is fully browned. Drain off any excess grease.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean surface. Do not separate the triangles. Press the dough into a rectangle shape, about 10 inches long.
- Spread the Dijon mustard evenly over the dough rectangle.
- Sprinkle the cooked sausage and the shredded cheddar cheese over the mustard layer.
- Starting from one long side, tightly roll the dough into a log.
- Use a sharp knife to cut the log into 12 equal slices, about 3/4 inch thick.
- Place the pinwheels cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or beef for the pork sausage if desired.
- For extra flavor, add 1 teaspoon of dried onion powder to the cooked sausage mixture.
