Irresistible Spinach Gruyere Tater Tot Hotdish

Description

A simple casserole combining tater tots, spinach, and Gruyere cheese.


Ingredients

  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon dried onion flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (10 ounce) package frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
  • 2 cups shredded Gruyere cheese, divided
  • 1 (32 ounce) package frozen tater tots

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, sour cream, onion flakes, salt, and pepper.
  3. Stir in the thawed spinach and 1 cup of the shredded Gruyere cheese until combined.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  5. Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the top of the soup mixture.
  6. Bake for 40 minutes.
  7. Remove the dish from the oven and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of Gruyere cheese over the tater tots.
  8. Return to the oven and bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the tots are golden brown.
  9. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Squeeze as much liquid as possible from the thawed spinach to prevent a watery hotdish.
  • You can substitute cheddar cheese for Gruyere if needed.
