Description
Simple recipe for small, sweet bites combining angel cake texture with churro flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box angel food cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a mini muffin pan.
- Prepare the angel food cake batter according to the package directions, using the specified amount of water and eggs. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour the batter into the prepared mini muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the cakes bake, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon together in a shallow dish.
- Remove the baked bites from the oven and let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes.
- Melt the butter in a small bowl.
- Dip the top of each warm cake bite into the melted butter, then immediately roll it in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
- Place the coated bites on a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
Notes
- You can use a store-bought angel food cake, cubed, as a shortcut. Dip the cubes in butter and roll in cinnamon sugar.
- For extra flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg to the cinnamon sugar mixture.
