- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 slices Texas toast
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook ground beef, onion, and bell pepper over medium heat until beef is browned and vegetables are tender. Drain excess grease.
- Stir in ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
- Bring to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sauce has thickened.
- Toast Texas toast slices until golden brown.
- Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto the toasted Texas toast.
