Crispy chicken pieces coated in a sweet and tangy orange sauce.

- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil for frying
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)
- Cooked rice, for serving
- Sesame seeds and chopped green onions, for garnish
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken pieces and toss to coat evenly.
- Dip each coated chicken piece into the beaten egg, then coat again with the cornstarch mixture.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes per side. Remove the chicken and drain on paper towels.
- In a small saucepan, combine the orange juice, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and orange zest. Bring to a simmer.
- Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
- Add the fried chicken to the sauce and toss to coat.
- Serve immediately over cooked rice, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.
Notes
- You can adjust the sweetness and tanginess of the sauce to your liking.
- For extra spice, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- This recipe can be made with chicken thighs as well.
