Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 can (10.75 ounces) condensed cream of celery soup
- 1 packet (1.25 ounces) dry onion soup mix
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 2-quart baking dish.
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess fat.
- In a large bowl, combine the browned beef, cream of mushroom soup, cream of celery soup, dry onion soup mix, and water. Stir well.
- Stir in the uncooked rice.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil.
- Bake for 50 minutes.
- Remove the foil. Sprinkle the Swiss cheese evenly over the top. Drizzle with melted butter.
- Return the dish to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the casserole stand for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute cream of chicken soup for cream of celery soup if preferred.
- For a richer flavor, use caramelized onions instead of the dry soup mix.
