Description
A refreshing homemade peach iced tea perfect for a hot day.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 4 cups boiling water
- 6 black tea bags
- 2 cups sliced fresh or frozen peaches
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- Ice
- Fresh mint sprigs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let it cool. This is your simple syrup.
- Place tea bags in a heatproof pitcher. Pour 4 cups of boiling water over the tea bags. Steep for 5-7 minutes, then remove tea bags.
- Add the sliced peaches to the hot tea. Let it steep for 15-20 minutes to infuse the peach flavor.
- Strain the tea through a fine-mesh sieve into another pitcher, pressing gently on the peaches to extract more flavor. Discard the solids.
- Stir in the cooled simple syrup and lemon juice.
- Chill the tea in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
- Serve over ice, garnished with fresh mint if desired.
Notes
- For a stronger peach flavor, you can blend the peaches into a puree before adding them to the tea.
- Adjust the amount of simple syrup to your preferred sweetness.
- You can use canned peaches if fresh are unavailable, but drain them well.
