Description
A simple recipe for making sweet, crystallized cranberries perfect for holiday decoration or snacking.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup fresh cranberries
- 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Combine 1/2 cup of the sugar and the water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely. Do not boil.
- Remove the sugar syrup from the heat. Add the fresh cranberries to the syrup and stir gently to coat them evenly.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove the cranberries from the syrup, letting excess liquid drip off. Place them on a wire rack set over parchment paper.
- Spread the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar onto a plate. Roll the wet cranberries in the sugar until they are fully coated.
- Allow the sugared cranberries to dry completely on the rack for at least 1 hour before serving or using.
Notes
- You can dry the cranberries overnight for a firmer sugar coating.
- Store leftover sugared cranberries in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
