Description

A simple recipe for making sweet, crystallized cranberries perfect for holiday decoration or snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Combine 1/2 cup of the sugar and the water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely. Do not boil.
  2. Remove the sugar syrup from the heat. Add the fresh cranberries to the syrup and stir gently to coat them evenly.
  3. Use a slotted spoon to remove the cranberries from the syrup, letting excess liquid drip off. Place them on a wire rack set over parchment paper.
  4. Spread the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar onto a plate. Roll the wet cranberries in the sugar until they are fully coated.
  5. Allow the sugared cranberries to dry completely on the rack for at least 1 hour before serving or using.

Notes

  • You can dry the cranberries overnight for a firmer sugar coating.
  • Store leftover sugared cranberries in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
