Description
A recipe for sweet and savory chicken wings coated in a sticky maple and apple glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs chicken wings, separated into flats and drumettes
- 1/2 cup apple juice
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons cold water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake the wings for 30 minutes.
- While the wings bake, prepare the glaze. In a small saucepan, combine apple juice, maple syrup, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, ginger, garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and cold water to create a slurry.
- Pour the slurry into the simmering sauce, whisking constantly until the sauce thickens, about 1 minute. Remove from heat.
- After 30 minutes of baking, remove the wings from the oven.
- In a large bowl, toss the hot wings with about half of the prepared glaze until fully coated.
- Return the glazed wings to the baking sheet. Bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the glaze is sticky and caramelized.
- Toss the wings with the remaining glaze just before serving.
Notes
- For crispier wings, you can broil them for the last 2-3 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
- You can substitute honey for maple syrup if needed.
