Ingredients

- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup mirin
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, whisk together soy sauce, water, mirin, brown sugar, cornstarch, ginger, and garlic.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and comes to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1-2 minutes, or until desired consistency is reached.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly before using.
- Store leftover teriyaki sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Notes
- Adjust sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar.
- For a spicier sauce, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
- This sauce is excellent for marinades, stir-fries, and dipping.
