Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup mirin
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, whisk together soy sauce, water, mirin, brown sugar, cornstarch, ginger, and garlic.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and comes to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1-2 minutes, or until desired consistency is reached.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before using.
  5. Store leftover teriyaki sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar.
